Clam
Festival '09 Sets a Record!
After record rainfall for the weeks leading up to Clam Festival,
Mother Nature delivered plenty of sunshine during the three-day
annual festival. Thousands of people took advantage of the
nice weather and came out to celebrate summer making this
year's fundraiser a great success! In fact, football set
a record selling more clam cakes and blueberry crisp than
ever expected.
It
didn't happen by accident. Football took on a big footprint
this year with multiple parking lots and a much larger food
booth. It required many volunteers to pull it off. Thank
you to everyone who came out to work a shift or two.
Broadway
was the theme to this year's parade. Yarmouth Football cruised
the parade route as "Blue Man Group".
2009
Calendar Raffle
In addition to the Clam Festival, the raffle is a huge fund
raiser.
Players,
if you know you are going to be playing this Fall, take advantage
of family gatherings between now and September (like Easter,
Memorial Day Family Picnics, 4th of July) to sell your tickets.
Tickets sell for $10 (6 tickets for $50). Checks are payable
to Yarmouth Football Association. You can download the raffle
tickets; go to the Raffle Tab to download.
Players
who sell the most and who sell their tickets the earliest
will be recognized. Last year's record was $400 sold by Jr.
High Player, Matthew Klepinger. How did he do it, you ask?
He wrote one e-mail and sent it to 8 close relatives/friends
and pitched the 6 tickets for $50 and all 8 sent $50. Congratulations
Matthew!
Friday
Night Lights
Thanks to a tremendous effort by the community, the high school
turf field erected lights in time for the 2008 season, and
the games began on Friday nights for high school football
here in Yarmouth. The stands were packed with football fans
of all ages who came to support their team. And they were
rewarded with Yarmouth's first win since becoming sanctioned
in 2007. Congratulations to the 2008 team!
Join
us under the lights this Fall on Friday Nights! Fun for the
entire family!
