Head Coach

Coaching Experience: Coach Hartman is in his 6th year as the Yarmouth Clippers High School Head Football Coach. Before that Coach Hartman was at Greely High School where he was the JV coach. He has 20 years of experience coaching football at all levels.

Playing Experience: Hartman played his college football at Boston State College.

Coaching Experience: Greg has been a YFA coach for the past 6 years and will assist with High School team for the 2009 season.

Personal: Greg and his wife Mollie moved to Yarmouth in 2002 and have 3 students in the Yarmouth Schools.

Assistant Coach

Coaching Experience: After finishing his athletic career, Chris was an Athletic trainer at Cassadaga Valley High School. He was also the running back and defensive back coach. He also worked as an athletic trainer at Jamestown Community College with the baseball and women’s softball teams and Buffalo State College with the football and track teams. He is the former head coach of the Yarmouth Junior High School and Pirates Varsity Youth Teams and and is currently the Assistant Offensive Coordinator & RB/LB coach of the high school team.

Playing Experience: Chris Started 4 years as a running back/linebacker at Cassadaga Valley High School. He wrestled 6 years and placed 2nd in the NYS championships when in 8th grade. He was a member of the track team for 4 years where he ran the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay. He also long jumped. In his junior and senior years the 4x100 relay team was undefeated. He continued his track career at Jamestown Community College. He competed at the NJCAA National Championships as a member of the 4x400 relay team that placed 9th, one place away from All-American status. He also continued playing football in Jamestown, NY community leagues. Chris completed his collegiate athletic career at SUNY @ Fredonia on the track team.

Personal: Chris was born August 27, 1964 in Lackawanna, NY. He graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central School in Sinclairville, NY in 1982. Chris lettered in 4 sports: Football, Wrestling, Track and Volleyball. He was a 4-year starter on the Varsity football team as a halfback/fullback and inside linebacker. At the time, he was only the 3rd Freshman to play varsity as a Freshman in school history. He also played 8 years of community baseball as a first and second baseman and pitcher.

Chris attended Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, NY where he earned as Associates degree in Mathematics. While at JCC he ran track and was a member of the Eastern Region Champion 4x400 and 4x100 relays teams. He competed at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships as a member of the 4x400 relay team in San Angelo, Texas.

Chris then attended SUNY @ Fredonia where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Biology and Secondary Education. He was a member of the Fredonia Track team, a perennial Division 3 powerhouse. He competed in the 60 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and the 4x100 relay.

Following graduation he worked as a Microbiologist at Lyphomed pharmaceuticals in Grand Island, New York. He also taught biology for 1 year at Clarence High School near Buffalo, NY. He left teaching to attend Medical School at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated with honors and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 1995. He completed his residency training in Reconstructive Foot & Ankle surgery at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.

While a resident, he was an assistant team physician with Youngstown State University Football team and Austintown-Fitch High School. Currently, Chris is a partner at the Cumberland County Ankle & Foot Center in South Portland and Yarmouth. He is Board Certified in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Chris met his wife, Paige, in 1985, they married in 1987. They have two children: Brittany and Nathan.

 

High School
Assistant Coach

Coaching Experience: 2009 will be Mark's 4th year coaching with Yarmouth Football. Mark is the offensive and defensive line coach for the high school team. Mark has coached Rye Youth Soccer for 3 seasons in Rye, NY. Additionally, Mark has ski instructed in the Cross-Roads youth ski program at Stratton Mountain, VT.

Playing Experience: Mark played TE and DE for Darien High School in Connecticut. Mark was a Div III 3rd Team All-American defensive tackle for Kenyon College, Gambier, OH. Additionally, Mark wrestled for Darien High School his senior year, placing 5th in Connecticut State class L division.

Personal:
Mark lives in Yarmouth with his wife, Sharon, and their four children. Spencer and Carter are both playing football while their girls Chapin and Campbell are both playing soccer. Mark and Sharon met while studying at Kenyon College. Mark spent 20 years in Fixed-Income Sales in New York and London. Sharon is an Organizational Development Consultant specializing in Executive Coaching and Process Consultation. Mark enjoys skiing with his family, biking and tennis.

 

JEFF AVERILL

High School
Assistant Coach

Coaching Experience: 2009 will be Jeff's 3rd year coaching with Yarmouth Football. He is the defensive backs coach on the High School team. Also, Jeff will be entering his sixth year as a Track & Field coach at Yarmouth High School.

Playing Experience: Jeff was a wide receiver, free safety and kick returner for South Portland High School from 1998-2001. In that span, the Red Riots went to three straight Western Maine Championship games and won the state title in 1999. Senior year, Jeff was selected to the Class A All-Academic team. He also ran Indoor and Outdoor Track at SPHS from 1999-2002 as a sprinter and hurdler. During that span, he was part of South Portland’s 7 State Championships including 4 straight indoor titles. Jeff continued his track career at the University of Southern Maine where he ran for 2 more years before getting into coaching.

Personal: Jeff graduated from South Portland High School in 2002 and the University of Southern Maine in 2006 with a B.S. in Biology. In addition to coaching, Jeff works as a Scientist at Oakhurst Dairy in Portland. He currently lives in Portland with his girlfriend Laura.

 

CHRIS EMERSON

High School
Assistant Coach

Coaching Experience: 2009 will be Chris' 1st year coaching with Yarmouth Football. Chris has coached girl’s soccer for 5 years for Yarmouth Community Services and Yarmouth Colts.

Playing Experience: Chris played offensive and defensive tackle for Mt. Ararat High School. He also played as a defenseman on the Mt. Ararat ice hockey team, rugby for a local team based in Brunswick/Topsham, and softball for Yarmouth men’s league.

Personal: Chris has lived in Yarmouth 17 years with his wife, Debbie, and daughter, Brittany. He works as an analyst for Energy East, the parent company of Central Maine Power Company.

 

 

Jr. High School
Head Coach

Coaching Experience: Joe has coachedat in the Yarmouth youth program for the last several years. Prior to that, Joe has coached at the high school level for 3 years. In the winter, Joe has coached indoor track for 2 years.

Playing Experience: 4 years at the high school level in Maine, as a defensive back and end

Personal: Joe resides in Yarmouth with his wife Kathleen and two boys Matthew and Trevor.

 

Jr. High School
Offensive Coordinator

Coaching Experience: 2009 will be Jason's 5th season coaching with Yarmouth Football. Jason is a NYSCA certified football coach and brings years of playing experience to the program including experience as a Quarterback in the New England Football League (NEFL), a semi-pro football league in New England.

Playing Experience: Jason played Quarterback for Winslow Junior & Senior High School from 1989-1991. After graduating from Winslow High School, Jason attended Kents Hill Prep School for a post graduate year. During his post graduate year Jason was a 3 sport athlete at Kents Hill, lettering in football, basketball and track. In 1993 Jason was recruited to play Quarterback for the Bridgewater State College Bears in Bridgewater Massachusetts. After his college career, Jason played Quarterback for the North Attleboro Renegades Semi-Pro football team in North Attleboro Mass.

Personal: Jason graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1997 with a BS degree in Physical Education / Recreation Management. Currently Jason is the Assistant Director of Yarmouth Community Services, owner of Mainely Sports Photography and a sports photographer for the Falmouth Forecaster newspaper.

 

Jr. High School
Defensive Coordinator

Coaching Experience: Bob has been coaching yarmouth football since 2005. In 2008 he coached the Jr. high team defensively. In that year the 7th graders were undefeated and unscored upon. Bob also keeps stats for the high school team.

Personal: Bob lives in Yarmouth with his wife and 2 sons who also play football on the high school and Jr. high team.

 

Jr. High School
Assistant Coach

Playing Experience: Frank played running back and safety for his high school team in Massachusetts. He was coached by his dad who was courted by the Cleveland Browns. In 1976, his senior year, he made all-state as a defensive back. At Princeton University he played running back in addition to special teams.

Coaching Experience: Frank has been coaching at the Pirates level for the past three years. He joins the Jr. High coaching team for the '09 Fall season.

Personal: Frank works here in town as an architect. He and his wife, Sheri, live in Yarmouth with their three sons, Leo, Joe and Henry.

Pirates Coach

Coaching Experience: Eric has been coaching youth sports for more than eight years. During the 2004 season, Eric coached the Yarmouth Pirates Youth Junior Varsity team with Sam Eddy and Peter Bartlett. During the 2005 season, Eric was the Pirates Varsity Head Coach. This fall he will once again coach the Pirates Varsity team. In addition, Eric coaches Little League baseball and has coached youth basketball and soccer.

Playing Experience: Eric played varsity football at Monroe High School in Michigan as a running back and corner back.

Personal: Eric is a director in the law firm of Moon, Moss, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of employment and labor law and commercial litigation. Eric and his wife Linda, who is a member of the Yarmouth Football Association Board of Directors, live in Yarmouth with their two sons, Caleb (Yarmouth class of 2013), and Lucas (Yarmouth class of 2016).

 

Pirates Coach

Coaching Experience: Rick was a coach with the Pirates last season where he coached the offensive and defensive lines, as well as making defensive play calls. Rick has coached in Yarmouth youth sports for 5 years starting with T-ball, and now currently coaches in both instructional and farm league baseball.

Playing Experience: Rick played football and baseball at South Plainfield High School in New Jersey. He lettered for 3 years in both and was elected captain of both teams his senior year. Rick also played 2 years of semi-pro football during college.

Personal: Rick lives in Yarmouth with his wife, Kim, and their three kids, Ricky, Ally, and Cayte.

 

Pirates Coach


Coaching Experience: Jay received his coaching certification in 2002, while coaching little league and community service baseball. This is Jay's third year with the Yarmouth Youth Football program.

Playing Experience: Jay played 12 seasons of football finishing his career as a scholarship athlete at NCAA Div II, Hillsdale College. All twelve years were spent in the backfield as a fullback. Jay is an active runner, cyclist and skier.

Personal: Jay has been a financial advisor for 13 years and has recently co-founded the Danforth Group at Smith Barney. He is First Vice President - Wealth Management and a Financial Planning Specialist. Jay and his wife Julie live in Yarmouth and are raising three boys: Jack (8), Grant(7) and Henry (3).

 

Pirates Coach

Coaching Experience: Lynn was a 2-sport, Division-I scholarship athlete who also acquired extensive coaching experience by serving on various collegiate, high school, and youth coaching and training staffs in Pennsylvania. She is also very involved in coaching in the Yarmouth community where she coaches her sons, Ethan (Yarmouth, Class of 2016) and Noah (Yarmouth, Class of 2019), in both football and baseball. Currently, she is an Assistant Coach for the JV/V Pirates and the Head Coach of the Pee Wee Pirates.

Personal: Lynn has her Ph.D. and has taught at Lehigh University, Bryn Mawr College, and Bates College and is currently a faculty member at USM.
